How to Evaluate a Candidate
Before casting your vote, take time to assess each candidate properly. Here's what to look for beyond party affiliation.
Read Their Manifesto
A manifesto outlines what a candidate plans to do if elected. Look for specific, achievable policies — not just vague promises. Compare manifestos across candidates before deciding.
Check Their Track Record
Has the candidate held office before? Research what they achieved in previous roles. Past performance in public service is one of the strongest indicators of future behaviour.
Assess Integrity & Transparency
Look into their public financial disclosures, court records, and past controversies. A candidate with a history of corruption is unlikely to serve your community well.
Local Presence & Community Work
Does the candidate actively engage with your community? Local presence — attending town halls, funding projects, or running constituents' offices — signals genuine commitment.
Representation & Inclusivity
Will the candidate represent all groups in your constituency — including women, youth, and minorities? Check their public statements and policy positions on inclusion.
Key Questions to Ask
- What specific problems will they solve in my area?
- How will they fund their promises?
- Have they been involved in any corruption cases?
- Do they have relevant experience?
- Are they accessible to ordinary citizens?
- Do their values align with those of the community?
