How to Get Your Permanent Voter Card (PVC)
Your PVC is required to vote in any Nigerian election. Here's a simple guide on how to register and collect yours from INEC — completely free.
Visit Your Nearest INEC Office
Locate the INEC office in your Local Government Area (LGA). You must register in your LGA of residence. Visit inec.gov.ng to find office locations near you.
Collect & Fill the Registration Form
Request a voter registration form (Form EC.1) at the INEC office. Fill in your personal details accurately — full name, date of birth, residential address, and occupation.
Present Your Documents
Submit your completed form alongside a valid ID (National ID, Passport, or Driver's Licence) and proof of residency. You must be 18 years or older to register.
Biometric Capture
INEC officials will capture your fingerprints and photograph. This data is stored securely and tied to your unique voter ID to prevent duplicate registration.
Await Notification
After registration you will receive an acknowledgement slip. Your PVC is typically ready in 4–8 weeks. INEC will notify you via SMS or a public announcement.
Collect Your PVC
Return to the same INEC office with your acknowledgement slip and a valid ID to collect your Permanent Voter Card. Keep it safe — it is your official voting credential.
