How to Vote in Nigeria
Follow these simple steps on election day to cast your ballot correctly and confidently.
Bring Your PVC
Your Permanent Voter Card (PVC) is the only document required. Ensure you carry it to your assigned polling unit.
Get Accredited
Present your PVC to the INEC official. Your fingerprint will be verified using the BVAS (Bimodal Voter Accreditation System).
Collect Your Ballot
After accreditation, you will receive your ballot paper(s). Each election has a separate coloured ballot paper.
Mark & Cast Your Vote
Go to the voting cubicle, mark your preferred candidate with the provided stamp, fold the ballot, and drop it in the ballot box.
Your Finger Gets Inked

No. Your Permanent Voter Card (PVC) is mandatory to vote in Nigeria. Visit your nearest INEC office to request a replacement if lost or damaged.
Polling units open at 8:00 AM and close at 3:00 PM. If you are already in the queue before 3:00 PM, you will still be allowed to vote.
Ballots are counted publicly at the polling unit. Results are announced immediately and recorded on INEC Form EC8A, and also published on the INEC iReV portal.
To vote, you only need your Permanent Voter Card (PVC). No other documents are required on election day.
You must vote at the specific polling unit assigned to you on your PVC. Confirm your polling unit at irev.inec.gov.ng before election day.
